The Foundation
The foundation stems from the life experience and cultural interests of the founder Giorgio Stefanini and his wife Giuliana Stefanini (-Ippoliti), both Italian citizens. They lived in Geneva from 1972 until 2007. Giorgio was a CERN physicist. Giuliana, a physics graduate, was a teacher of mathematics and physics in the Geneva "Collèges". In 1992 Giuliana discovered her talent for painting and dedicated herself with passion to her artistic activity. A selection of her works is shown in the website dedicated to her. In 2004 she was struck by cancer. She had clinical treatment first in Geneva, then in Zurich, the region to which she had moved with her husband in 2008. They had decided together to create a public interest foundation. Giuliana died in April 2012. The foundation was registered and started its activity in August 2012.

Aim
The Giuliana and Giorgio Stefanini Foundation is an independent, non-profit, public interest foundation. It is non-partisan and has no religious allegiance. The foundation's aim is to promote and provide financial support to activities in the following fields:
Cancer research and clinical studies on cancer
The foundation promotes and supports targeted projects in university research centers and in other acknowledged institutions.
Visual arts
The foundation supports conservation and restoration projects, as well as research and technology activities, in public institutions specialised in this domain.
Acquisitions and exhibitions are not supported.
Classical music
The foundation supports students (at Master level) of the Swiss conservatories and academies with individual grants.
Ensembles, orchestras, concerts and music festivals are not supported.
The foundation does not seek to make any financial gain or any kind of profit. It is exclusively active in public interest domains. It can exercise its activity in Switzerland and abroad; the main activity shall however be in Switzerland.

Guidelines for proposals for project funding
The applications should include the description and motivation of the project, the list of participants, the project schedule and the estimated budget. The usual guidelines for the submission of projects to funding agencies are applicable. The applications can be submitted as PDF in electronic form (preferred) or by post.
There are no fixed application deadlines. It should be noted however that at any given time we may be supporting several projects, most of which have a duration of two to three years. Therefore it would be unrealistic to expect support for a new project at short notice. The timeline of the proposed project will have to be carefully considered.

We support students (at Master level) of conservatories and academies with grants that cover the study fees for one/two semesters (based on the current tariffs in Switzerland).
The applicants are usually at an advanced stage in their Master study and often have already achieved a first Master degree. Only a few grants, generally no more than six or seven, are awarded each year. Due to the large number of requests and to budget constraints, the individual probability of success can be relatively small.
The applications should follow standard practices and must include cover letter, CV, certificate of registration to courses, letters of recommendation and links to recordings. Incomplete applications will not be taken into consideration.
The applications can be submitted as PDF in electronic form (preferred) or by post. The deadlines, if any, are shown on this webpage. The time of allocation of the grants may vary according to circumstances.

The foundation does not make fundraising campaigns. However donations are welcome. They can be earmarked for a specific project or for grants to classical music students, if so wished. Die Stiftung

Von 1972 bis 2007 wohnten Giorgio und Giuliana in Genf. Giorgio war Physiker im CERN. Giuliana, ebenfalls Physikerin, unterrichtete Physik, Mathematik und grundlegende Informatik in den Genfer “Collèges”. Sie interessierten sich nicht nur für Wissenschaft, sondern auch für bildende Kunst und klassische Musik. 1992 entdeckte Giuliana ihr Talent zum Zeichnen und Malen, und widmete sie sich mit Leidenschaft der bildenden Kunst. Eine Auswahl ihrer Werke ist auf ihrer Website zu sehen. Im Jahr 2004 wurde bei Giuliana Krebs diagnostiziert. Sie wurde zuerst in Genf und dann in Zürich behandelt, wohin sie 2008 mit Giorgio umgezogen war. Sie hatten zusammen entschieden, eine gemeinnützige Stiftung to errichten. Giuliana starb im April 2012. Die Stiftung wurde im August 2012 gegründet.

Stiftungszweck (Kurzfassung)
Die Giuliana und Giorgio Stefanini Stiftung ist eine selbstständige, gemeinnützige Förderstiftung. Sie ist politisch und religiös unabhängig. Die Stiftung fördert und unterstützt Projekte in folgenden Bereichen:
Krebsforschung und klinische Studien bei Krebs
Die Stiftung fördert und unterstützt gezielte Projekte in Forschungszentren der Universitäten und in anderen anerkannten Institutionen.
Bildende Kunst
Die Stiftung unterstützt Konservierungs- und Restaurierungsprojekte sowie Forschungs- und Technologieentwicklungen in öffentlichen Kunstinstituten.
Ankäufe und Ausstellungen werden nicht unterstützt.
Klassische Musik
Die Stiftung unterstützt Studierende der Schweizer Musikhochschulen (auf Master-Niveau) mit Stipendien.
Ensembles, Orchester, Konzertreihen oder Musikfestivals werden nicht unterstützt.
Die Stiftung hat keinen Erwerbszweck und erstrebt keinen Gewinn. Sie ist ausschliesslich gemeinnützig tätig.
Die Stiftung ist im Rahmen der Zwecksetzung im In- und Ausland tätig; die Tätigkeit erfolgt mehrheitlich im Inland.

Richtlinien für Anträge auf finanzielle Unterstützung von Projekten
Die Anträge sollten die Beschreibung und Motivation des Projekts, die Teilnehmerliste, den Projektplan und die geschätzten Kosten enthalten. Die üblichen Richtlinien für die Einreichung von Projekten bei den Förderagenturen sollten angewendet werden.
Die Gesuche können als PDF in elektronischer Form (bevorzugt) oder per Post eingereicht werden.
Es gibt keine festen Terminfristen. Zu beachten ist jedoch, dass wir zu jedem Zeitpunkt mehr als ein laufendes Projekt unterstützen, von denen die meisten eine Laufzeit von zwei bis drei Jahren haben. Daher wäre es unrealistisch, kurzfristig Unterstützung für ein neues Projekt zu erwarten. Der Zeitplan des vorgeschlagenen Projekts muss sorgfältig geprüft werden.

Wir unterstützen Studierende der Musikhochschulen (auf Master-Niveau) mit Stipendien, die die Studiengebühren für ein oder zwei Semester (nach den aktuellen Tarifen in der Schweiz) abdecken. Die Bewerberinnen und Bewerber sind in der Regel in ihrem Masterstudium fortgeschritten oder haben sogar bereits einen ersten Master absolviert. Nur wenige Stipendien werden jedes Jahr gewährt. Aufgrund der starken Nachfrage und aus Budgetgründen können die individuellen Erfolgsaussichten relativ gering sein.
Die Bewerbungen sollten den Standardpraktiken entsprechen. Enthalten sein müssen Anschreiben, Lebenslauf, Anmeldebescheinigung für Kurse, Empfehlungsschreiben und Links zu Aufnahmen. Unvollständige Bewerbungen werden nicht berücksichtigt. Die Bewerbungen können als PDF in elektronischer Form (bevorzugt) oder per Post eingereicht werden. Die Fristen, sofern vorhanden, werden auf dieser Webseite angezeigt. Der Zeitpunkt der Zuweisung der Stipendien kann je nach den Umständen unterschiedlich sein.

Die Stiftung führt keine Spendenaktionen durch. Spenden sind jedoch willkommen. Sie können auf Wunsch für ein bestimmtes Projekt oder für Stipendien an klassische Musikstudenten zweckgebunden werden.

Elle a reçu un traitement clinique d'abord à Genève, ensuite à Zurich, la région dans laquelle elle s'était installée avec son mari en 2008. Ils avaient décidé ensemble de créer une fondation d'intérêt public. Giuliana est décédée en avril 2012. La fondation a été créée en août 2012.

Directives pour les demandes de financement de projet
Les demandes doivent contenir la description du projet proposé et de l’objectif recherché, la liste des participants, le calendrier et le budget estimé. La fondation n’a pas de formulaire spécifique. Les directives habituelles pour la soumission de projets aux agences de financement sont applicables.

Il n'y a pas d’échéance fixe pour la soumission des propositions. Il faut cependant noter qu'à tout moment nous soutenons plus d'un projet, dont la plupart ont une durée de deux à trois ans. Il serait donc irréaliste de s'attendre à un soutien à court terme pour un nouveau projet. Le calendrier du projet proposé devra être soigneusement examiné.

Nous accordons des bourses à des étudiantes et étudiants des HEM, généralement au niveau Master. Les bourses couvrent les frais d’études pour un voir deux semestres (sur la base des tarifs en vigueur en Suisse). Dans la plupart des cas les candidats sont à un stade avancé de leurs études de Master et ont souvent déjà obtenu un premier diplôme Master. Quelques bourses seulement sont attribuées chaque année. En raison du grand nombre de demandes et des contraintes budgétaires, la probabilité individuelle de succès peut être relativement faible.
Les demandes doivent être accompagnées des documents habituels: lettre de motivation, CV, attestations d’inscription, lettres de présentation et liens à quelques enregistrements. Les demandes incomplètes ne seront pas prises en compte.
Les demandes peuvent être soumises en PDF par voie électronique (de préférence) ou par la poste. Les dates limites de soumission, le cas échéant, sont annoncées sur cette page. Le moment de l'attribution des bourses peut varier selon les circonstances.

La Fondazione

Entrambi si sono molto interessati all'arte e alla musica classica- Nel 1992 Giuliana ha scoperto il suo talento per il disegno e la pittura e si è consacrata interamente alla sua attività artistica. Una selezione delle sue opere è presentata sul sito web a lei dedicato. Nel 2004 le è stata diagnosticata una forma particolarmente letale di cancro. Ha ricevuto il trattamento clinico prima a Ginevra poi a Zurigo, la regione nella quale si era trasferita con il marito nel 2008. Avevano deciso insieme di creare una fondazione d'utilità pubblica. Giuliana è deceduta nell'aprile 2012. La fondazione è stata creata nell'agosto 2012.

La fondazione non cerca in nessun modo di ottenere guadagni finanziari né alcun profitto. E' esclusivamente attiva nel campo di progetti di pubblica utilità.
La fondazione può esercitare le sue attività sia in Svizzera che all'estero; tuttavia l'insieme delle attività principali sarà concentrato in Svizzera.

Linee guida per le richieste di finanziamento di progetto
Le richieste devono includere la descrizione e la motivazione del progetto proposto, la lista dei partecipanti, il piano temporale e la stima del costo. La richiesta può essere formulata seguendo le linee guida usuali degli enti di finanziamento. Le richieste possono essere inoltrate in PDF per via elettronica (preferibilmente) oppure per posta. Non sono previste scadenze fisse per la presentazione delle proposte. Tuttavia va notato che in qualsiasi momento stiamo sostenendo più di un progetto, la maggior parte dei quali ha una durata di due o tre anni. Sarebbe quindi irrealistico aspettarsi un sostegno a breve termine per un nuovo progetto. Il programma temporale del progetto proposto dovrà essere esaminato attentamente.

La fondazione attribuisce borse di studio a studenti (generalmente a livello Master) dei conservatori e accademie. Le borse coprono il costo delle iscrizioni ai corsi per uno o due semestri (sulla base delle tariffe attualmente in vigore in Svizzera). La maggior parte dei candidati è a uno stadio avanzato degli studi per il Master e spesso ha già ottenuto un primo diploma Master. Ogni anno vengono assegnate solo poche borse, di solito non più di sei o sette. A causa dell’elevato numero di domande e delle limitazioni nel budget, la probabilità individuale di successo può essere relativamente bassa.
Le domande devono essere formulate secondo gli standard abituali e devono includere una lettera di motivazione, il CV, i certificati di iscrizione, le lettere di raccomandazione ed i link a qualche registrazione. Le domande incomplete non saranno prese in considerazione.
Le domande possono essere inoltrate in PDF per via elettronica (preferibilmente) oppure per posta. Le scadenze eventuali per la presentazione delle domande sono indicate su questa pagina. Le tempistiche di assegnazione delle borse possono variare a seconda delle circostanze.
